Do all browsers behave the same?
No. Due to technical issues, we use two different editors. These are the current known cross browser issues:
1--Spell check and anchor links only work with IE on PC platforms. This will be corrected in a future release
2--Please review the notes below for IE and non-IE users in the sections for adding documents and images

Using
the Editor
If you can use Microsoft Word
then our data editor will look familiar. We use a WYSIWYG
(What You See Is What You Get) editor so whatever you enter will
display exactly how you format it.
Just enter your data and format it as you would in Word and hit 'Update Database'
to store it on our database. Hit the Help Button
to display the wide range of features that our Editor has. Advanced users can set up
an entire web page within the editor including Anchor Links, Tables and Forms.
You can experiment with any function and just leave the page without
hitting 'Update Database' and your changes will
not be saved.
NOTE--In some cases, single quotes will be replaced with an alternative single quote when the database is updated. This
is a requirement of the programming in the editor and the problem is being researched.

How do I report a problem,
abuse or make suggestions?
At the bottom of each page, click
the link 'contact the webmaster'. You can then
fill out and submit the form. All concerns will be addressed via
e-mail within 24 hours.
Does
my page history get saved?
No. Once you hit the 'Update
Database' button, whatever appears on the screen will
be saved to the database. You can keep adding data (the page will
just scroll down) as the school year progresses or overlay the
entire page. See the FAQ about using Microsoft Word to format
your pages.

Can
I use Microsoft Word to edit my pages?
Yes, Microsoft Word can be used to create
pages in MTNpage.com. Just type in your data as normal,
select and copy the entire page and then paste it into the MTNpage.com
editor. All formatting should be retained (see note below). This is a handy way to
save previously used pages and formats for future use.
NOTE--If you have trouble with some special formatting
then save the document as Rich Text Format(.rtf). If you use special
fonts that are not included in the normal Microsoft font list
then they might not translate properly when your students view
your pages. The data will display using the default font on the
users browser

Can
I use Microsoft Excel to edit my data?
Yes, Microsoft Excel can be used to edit your
data in MTNpage.com. Just type in your data as normal, save the speadsheet as a .TXT file,
select, copy and then paste it into the MTNpage.com
editor.

What is PayPal?
PayPal is an independent site
for secure credit card processing. MTNpage.com does not
retain any home address or credit card data. Note--You
will not be required to open up a PayPal account but it is handy
for any online transactions or auctions.

How do I add images to my pages?
--Place the cursor where you want
the image (JPG or GIF) to be and press the Insert/Modify Image
Button
.
--Select an image from the library or upload an image from your
computer or another web site. When you copy an image from another
web site, save on your computer first and properly name it before
uploading the image (see the note below).
--All images will be available to all users
--Please PREVIEW your images on your page and resize them as needed.
Some pictures are very large and will not display properly.
--Resizing--select the image after you add it to your page and
drag it from the corners to make it the appropriate size
--If you select an image and hit the Background button (Backgd)
then that image will be used as wallpaper for your page. This
is a neat way to make your site look unique but pay attention
to the items that you place on top of the background image for
readability. If you cannot see the Backgd button then your
screen resolution must be adjusted. To correct this:
--> Go to your DESKTOP and
Right Click the cursor anywhere where there isn't an icon
--> Select Properties and the
Display Properties box will display. Hit the SETTINGS tab.
--> Change the screen resolution
to at least 1024 x 768 and click OK. You will be shown the
new display and be prompted to retain it. Click YES/OK.
After adjusting, you will notice that more data fits on your screen.
--NOTE--All
users use a common image library so it is HIGHLY recommended that
you preface your images with a unique identifier. This should
prevent another user from overlaying your pictures.

guidelines if you have any questions.

How do I point to documents stored on other servers?
NOTE-IE USERS ONLY--Currently, you can only upload JPG and GIF images to our server but you can set up links to PDF and DOC documents stored on the internet. Just put the entire address in the URL field when you add the link.
For example: http://www.hcde.org/schools/media/pdfs/mhrwlk6/grade4.pdf
After you hit this link (in `preview mode), the document will display in this window (unless you use the `_new` option). Hit your browser `BACK` key to return. Once the new document appears in your window, your students will be able to do a `Save As` to obtain a copy.
NON IE USERS--SEE ADD DOCUMENT HOW TO ABOVE

What is Direct Link?
Direct Link is a way for your students to access your pages directly without entering
a Zip Code, School and Teacher on the HOME page. Copy the entire line below "Direct Link" on the registration page and use it as the URL for any outside links from other pages (you might have to forward it to your school
Webmaster).
If you want to test it to see how it works then just paste the copied line
in the address bar of your browser and hit 'ENTER'.
If you update your selection criteria
(School, Zip Code, Selection Name or Location) then you must reapply the link.

Why
we changed our site name?
On 7/1/2005, MyTeachersNet.com
changed to MTNpage.com. MyTeachersNet.com was released in November
2004 and when we attempted to obtain a trademark, there was a
conflict with another company.
There will be no change in service or site content except for a different web site name.
